![]() Do
you recognize this man? He is Ellsworth "Ed"
Sinclair. I managed to sneak in a couple of pictures taken at the
June 3, 2000 "Arts in the Woods" celebration at Artisans United Gallery in
Annandale Virginia. As you can see, he is hard at work -- as usual! (If you
want to see some of Ed's pieces in my PJewelPlus collection,
click here.) A man of diverse
interests, he studied drama at the Shakespearean Institute at Stratford-on-Avon
in 1959, and followed that with a two year stint in the Peace Corps in Liberia,
West Africa. He is a graduate of the University of East Carolina and the
University of Virginia. In 1986, he retired from a 25 year teaching career in
Fairfax County, Virginia. As a native Virginian, he has spent many hours pursuing his mineral collecting hobby throughout the state. His interest in minerals led him to frequent gem and mineral shows, where he was introduced to wire wrapping. After a brief 10 hour course and a year of practice, he embarked on the craft show circuit in the mid 1970's. During that time he served two terms as president of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild. Of course, he is still an active member. Ed has now become a familiar fixture demonstrating wire wrapping at the Catalog-in-Motion show in Tucson, Arizona. Every February, he can be found there at the Hilton Hotel under the sponsorship of Rio Grande. Look for him on TV in connection with ACN-TV (American collectibles Network) in Knoxville, Tennessee. Ed will be making periodic appearances about once a month, making wire wrap instructional tapes and making plans for a wire wrap workshop. Ed's plans are to continue writing wire wrap books as long as his ideas continue to flow! Mr. Sinclair can be reached at 1-888-337-9474. Fax 703-368-0208. or by snail mail at PO Box 2011, Manassas, VA 20108 or Click here for his publisher, Rogers and Nelson Publishing. |

Each chapter has been carefully thought out and organized into step by step, illustrated instruction on how and what to do. Inside, you will find instruction on the following: Basic tools for wirewrapping, equipment, wire rings, bracelets, earrings, pendants, stickpins, sharks' teeth, spider pins/webs, and crosses. | Moods in Brass & Glass is a new and
different approach to wirewrapping. Emphasis is on the less expensive
materials. This volume also addresses two important needs: It is a creative
supplement to the trend of "I want to do it myself," and a relatively
inexpensive introduction to affordable materials, enabling one to become
involved on a much deeper level without a lot of expense. In this book there is
a strong emphasis on single and multi-bead projects as well as wire-only
pendants, rings, and earrings. Each project is systematically diagrammed step
by step, then summarized by suggesting variations of what has been covered.
Further emphasis is placed upon creativity. As in the first book, Moods In Wire, Volume 1, each chapter has been organized into step-by-step, illustrated instructions. Inside Volume 2 you will find instruction on the following: Basic Tools for Wirewrapping; Equipment and Materials; Pendants; Pins; Bracelets; Earrings; Rings; Birdcages. |

| This book introduces a new tool (twister pliers) and a new variety of wire (magnet wire, square and round). Going through the projects in this book, one notices a new level of wirewrapping beginning to emerge, with as many new horizons to be explored as there are people who have the imagination and the patience to explore them. | ![]() Volume III click here for more info on the book |
